Momiji Health Care Society is now recruiting a new core group of enthusiastic volunteers to provide friendly visiting and culturally appropriate programming to seniors residing on the Japanese-Canadian Unit at the new Yee Hong Scarborough-Finch Centre (near Markham and Finch in north Scarborough), which will open in June, 2004.
Come and help us develop exciting new programs and make a real difference in our elders’ lives! Bilingual volunteers available weekdays are especially welcome.

Momiji also has volunteer opportunities available at the Momiji Centre in Scarborough, at Castleview-Wychwood Towers in Toronto’s West End, and at Macassa Lodge in Hamilton.

English Tutor

Tutoring position one day a week in Meadowvale. Student is a Japanese expatriate with intermediate English. She needs help with ESL one hour a weekday in her home. Day and time can be decided together with student. Teacher will supply materials. Pay is $20/hr . Hours will increase in the summer.

  • Must have some tutoring or instructing experience.

    Accounting Manager

    Our client, a successful auto manufacturer in southwestern Ontario, has an immediate need for a Japanese speaking Accounting Manager. Applicants should have at least 3 years business accounting experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.

    Reporting to the Canadian president, the candidate will oversee all accounting functions for the operation, specifically to:

  • Establish and maintain accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data for business operations
  • Prepare financial reports
  • Facilitate A/P, A/R, payroll and benefits plans
  • Ensure expenses are controlled and within budget
  • File and maintain corporate documentation
  • Identify training needs, appropriate measures and conduct reviews
  • Contact/liaise with global head office
  • Supervise 1˝ staff
  • A working knowledge of Japanese is a must.

    Job Description
    Liaise between customers and service and sales organization, by accounts, from acceptance of order to after delivery.
    Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate customer requirements
  • Negotiating internal and external product details and scheduling conflicts
  • Organizing priorities to meet aggressive deadlines of multiple projects
  • Managing constantly changing priorities
  • Accounts - multiple and generic; lower volume and less frequent buying patterns
  • Emphasis on regional involvement with customer and less direct communication with the customer operations

    Preferred Qualifications for this Position Include:

    THE MANDATE
    The client requires numerous dynamic consultants throughout Canada with proven experience in the area of Total Quality Management. As the Business/Operations Transformation Consultant, you will aim to identify process improvement opportunities and implement necessary strategies to maximize the capability of processes to produce services or products.     SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • A university degree in engineering or business is required. Individuals with a Masters of Engineering or an MBA are strongly preferred.
