Japan’s Cable & Wireless IDC Selects Voice over IP Solution from Nortel Networks
Cable & Wireless IDC, of Japan, has selected Succession carrier voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) local and long distance solutions from Nortel Networks to migrate its existing voice networks to IP and create a unified platform for delivery of next generation multimedia services. Cable & Wireless IDC’s new IP network will be based on Nortel Networks’ Succession Communication Server 2000 superclass softswitch and Nortel Networks’ Multimedia Communication Server 5200. Japan’s Saga University Medical Department Deploys Nortel’s Ethernet Solution
The Medical Department of Japan’s Saga University has deployed Nortel Network’s Gigabit Ethernet campus network through Rikei Corporation, Nortel’s local systems integration partner. Nortel’s solution for the university’s medical department includes Passport 8600 Routing Switch at the network core, providing 10 Gigabit Ethernet support. Epson Moves Software Development Work from Toronto to Philippines
Epson Software Development Laboratory of Japan announced that it has moved its English-language software development for printers and scanners to Philippines. The work had been done at Epson's lab in Toronto. Epson will establish a software development development laboratory, with an investment of C$370,000, within its printer/scanner manufacturing facility on Cebu Island. Education Software from Montreal's Kutoka Interactive Adapted for Japan
Japanese software developer Natsume will release a new computer game designed to teach elementary school children English and Spanish at the same time. The Japanese version of 'Mia's Great Adventure' in which children learn by playing games featuring Mia the mouse, was produced by Natsume based on a similar product from Kutoka Interactive.
