We are pleased to invite you to a private round table lunch with Mr. David Bostwick, Counsellor (Commercial) and Senior Trade Commissioner within the Canadian Embassy in Japan from noon on Thursday, December 5. Japan is Canada's fourth biggest export market, and sixth largest source of investment in Canada. Japan is also a leading partner for science, research and development. David currently co-leads the Canadian Commercial program within the Canadian Embassy. Mr. Bostwick will reflect on the Canada Japan bilateral relationships, milestones of engagement and the CPTPP. He will also be interested to hear your feedback and field your questions.

About the Speaker

Before arriving in Tokyo, David Bostwick was Director, Trade and Investment, at the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, he held the position of Senior Department Advisor in the Office of the Minister of International Trade at Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in Ottawa. His previous overseas assignments include Senior Political Officer at the Embassy of Canada in Beijing, PRC, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou, PRC, Consul and Deputy Trade Program Manager (Southwest United States) at the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles, California and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Canada in Tokyo, Japan. 

Prior to joining GAC, he held a number of government and private sector positions in Japan and served as an officer in the Canadian Army. 

David holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Geography from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He is married with three children and enjoys cooking in his free time.
