It is with a great honour to announce that our President, Mr. Ben Ciprietti received the Order of the Rising Sun from the Japanese Government on May 21, 2019. The Order was given to honour Mr. Ciprietti's contribution to strengthening the economic and cultural relationships and promoting mutual understanding between Japan and Canada. We thank Mr. Ciprietti for his over-25-years service and dedication to the Japan Society. During his time at the Japan Society, he has initiated valuable programs including the business luncheon series. a Gala Dinner for the opening of Takamado Gallery at Royal Ontario Museum, a business mission to the 2005 World Exposition Aichi, Walk in Canada, Talk on Japan, Japan Bowl Ontario and more...

About Ben Ciprietti

Ben Ciprietti is President of The Japan Society, a position he has held since September, 1992.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Ben is a graduate of McMaster University and completed Advanced Management Studies at The Banff School of Advanced Management and the Sloan Business School. He worked at Dofasco Inc. throughout his initial career (37 years) and, in his last assignment as Vice President - Planning, was responsible for the preparation and recommendation of its strategic direction, corporate development and international business activities. He was also Chairman and President of DNN Corporation, a galvanizing line Joint Venture with NKK Corporation of Japan and National Steel of the United States.

Ben has been involved in many community activities, including being President of The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and President of The Hamilton Foundation. And he was awarded with Japan's 2014 Foreign Minister's Commendations.
