On March 19, 2025, The Japan Society hosted an exclusive dinner in Toronto, featuring Hideki Makihara, the former Minister of Justice of Japan. The evening was marked by insightful conversations and Japanese culinary excellence, with Mr. Makihara sharing his experiences and insights on the evolving landscape of justice and law in Japan, as well as his views on international legal collaboration. Distinguished guests included some Corporate and Board members representing a diverse business industry. The dinner provided an excellent opportunity for engaging dialogue and networking among attendees. The event was organized by Phillip Lipscy, Professor of Political Science and Director of the Centre for the Study of Global Japan at the University of Toronto, Louis W. Pauly, Professor and Acting Chair at the University of Toronto, and The Japan Society.
